The invention refers to a fishing monitoring and management system comprising beacon devices (10) connected to buoys (11), mesh devices (20, 30) connected to fishing vessels (21,31), fishing gears (12) connected to buoys (11), gateways (80) connected to a main computational unit (60), wherein a web application (65) is run, and which main computational unit (60) is configured to process data sent by the beacon devices (10), the mesh devices (20,30), and the gateways (80).also, the invention refers to a computer-implemented method.a sensor in the beacon device (10) measures temperature, velocity, acceleration, to determine whether the fishing gear (12) connected to the buoy (11) is getting lost or is drifting in an unexpected way. the geographical coordinates of the buoy (11) are detected, through communication means (200) or via the internet (100).in the mesh devices (20,30) there are connectivity means suitable for communication with smartphones (50).
